Limericks

In class we have been learning about Limericks. A Limerick poem is a poem that has five lines it has a type of rhythm. It also has to have a rhyming word at the end of every line, two rhyming words in the first two lines and the third and fourth lines have to have a different rhyming word at the end and the last line has to rhyme with the first and second. Here is a Limerick poem that I wrote.

                  Polly
There once was a girl named Polly.
Who bought a very big dolly.
She sat it on her shelf,
Next to the elf.
And now she's very jolly.

Free verse poem-Dancing

We have been learning about all sorts of different poems in class. This is my free verse poem.
           Dancing

She has pink bows in her hair.
She rushes past like a speeding motorbike.
Her jumps are so perfect like they were meant to be.
The dancers pirouette is as fast as a hurricane.
The slight move she makes has noise.
The stage set like she was put with it.
Then she suddenly jumped into scary music.
The dancers body in the making.

In class we have been learning about onomatopoea
We wrote a poem with onomatopoea in it. This is how mine goes.

LUNCH TIME

The children munching on their tasty lunch.
Munch,munch,chomp,chomp.
The teacher letting the kids go.
Psh,thump,cachoo,zoom!
The children playing with the ball.
Shoo,shoo,shoo,shoo.
The running children.
Thump,thump,thump,thump.
The children falling over.
Bump,thump,wump,clump.
The children talking to each other.
Pss,pss,pss,pss
The children walking into the classroom.
Bump,bump,bump,bump

Science fair investigation

Aim

Does mould grow faster on different types of food?.

Hypothesis

I think that some foods will grow mould faster than other foods because mould needs moisture to grow on.

Apparatus

2 slices of bread spinach
3 strawberries spoon
yoghurt knife
beans clear food wrap

My results

All of the foods that I used grew mould except the toast because it had no moisture. The strawberries grew the most mould and it grew mould the fastest.

Conclusion

My hypothesis was correct because I said that some foods would grow mould faster and that was just what happend.

Science fair

Over the last few weeks our class has been doing our science fair. I am doing mine on mould. My hypothesis was correct. I said that mould would grow faster on different types of food. I have been growing mould on
bread, toast, strawberries, yoghurt, baked beans and spinach. I did it for a week and my strawberries grew mould on it the quickest and they turned out to be very disgusting. I had a great time doing it and I took pictures for my results.

Myths and Legends

Over the last few weeks we have been writing our own myth with a partner in class. Our myth is called 'Why the snake has no arms or legs'. It is about a snake who was always getting bullied, so he went down to the lake and wished there were no bullies. At the lake Snake found crocodile and lizard (bullies) and they said, "Meet us down at the lake tomorrow". Snake went to bed and had all these nightmares about the fight. When Snake woke up he was feeling very scared but at the same time brave. Snake went down to the river and saw crocodile and lizard. They said, "Are you ready to rumble?". They were going around in circles and then crocodile lunged and bit snakes arms and legs off. Now that's why snakes have no arms or legs today.
